While some approach caricature on occasion, it's an anomaly, as most of the time his people act like real people, and annoying teenagers are true to form.This book will be a definite hit with the prolife community, and readers of Christian fiction in general.

Murder for Emily's Sake was an interesting story. The killer is no mystery from the beginning, but his thought process is difficult to guess, and provides a fresh plot. There were a few instances where the characters seemed a bit un-realistic (making jokes in a very tragic and serious situation), but overall it was a good read. I received this book free from Lighthouse Publishing in exchange for my honest review.
This book is a thrill-ride suspense but also much more. Faith and prolife messages are relayed through the characters' actions. The Birk family conversations and interactions inject humor in the midst of tragedy and terror. A romance barely begins; a marriage is strengthened; and a family is formed.
I wondered about the villain's background; the immediate trigger to his murderous vengeance was the death of his daughter. <spoiler>However, we learn that he had committed a vile act two decades earlier. Then he was married and raised a daughter and apparently lived a normal life for many years. That didn't seem plausible to me, but the book was so good otherwise that it didn't detract from my enjoyment. </spoiler>
Kept me intrigued. Liked the fast pace. The characters were lovable though they certainly endured many trials. Was a good read
Hard to believe this is Larry's first novel. The characters and situations pull you into the story and keep you turning page after page looking for resolution in this suspenseful read. Highly recommended!
What I appreciate most about Larry Timm's book is the lack of caricature in the characters. Even his antagonist feels like he could be real and Timm gives the reader the background necessary to understand the antagonist's motivation. We may not agree with the actions this tortured father takes, but, as the father of two daughters, I understood his point of brokenness.
Plus, the denouement left my mouth literally hanging open.
This is a powerful thrill ride of a read from a first-time novelist. But it's obvious Timm has been a storyteller for ages. There are very few places where the story drags and Timm keeps the pedal well to the metal. I look forward to his next novel.
Suspense is not a genre I usually read, but I made an exception for For Emily’s Sake, and I’m glad I did. This debut novel confronts issues that dominate news headlines and sheds light on how we should live in the face of evil. I loved the dry wit and the love the family in this story shares––while still being very genuine in their irritations and conflict with one another. A thoroughly enjoyable and enlightening read!
I found this book to be exciting and it moved very quickly. It was wonderful to read a book this good without having to skim over bad language and sex scenes. Murder for Emily's Same caught my attention and intrigued me in chapter 1. This was a real page turner with some twists and turns. I also found the characters to be believable and likeable. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a good book
