In her acknowledgements, the author speaks of how her romantic suspense morphed into a paranormal world and wonders whether she was over zealous. The answer is Yes. Although Hemlock Hollow is well drawn, what is missing, I think, is any clue as to why the Police are incompetent, how the villains had any clue about the secret portal and what on earth the Mayor was doing up on the mountain waving a shotgun. Initially, the depiction of Grace's grief and alcoholism is quite compelling. But later the paranormal elements tend to make her a cipher. But Harry was the big disappointment. He was just too inconsistent, too much of a wimp to be convincing in his role. And the number of people the Gilliam slaughtered was where she jumped the shark. I cared enough to finish, to see how the author resolved the plot, but I wouldn't bother to read more, unless Harry grows a spine and we get some idea of how Grace is supporting herself when she has no visible means of support.Product details

Fast read with an interesting plot.
I loved this series...couldn't put it down. ..now that I am done reading it i miss Hemlock Hollow and all the characters.
